I am Nefeli and i am 17 years old and i live since the day i was born in Greece and especially in Athens. The subject of this post, has nothing to do with the theme of the blog. I would like to explain to people who teens in Greece live every day of their life, their problems and dreams.
I will start with something general, Greece was and still is a small country as you know in the middle of the Med Sea. Years now, Greece created the image of the perfect country with the dreamy beaches, the bright sun and this awesome food. And that was the truth. The scenery of Greece is hardly to be found in another country. I don't want to talk about the food. Souvlaki and all these.
On the other hand, the past 2 years, Greece changed its image not only on the people abroad but and to us. We became the country of the depth, we learned new economical worlds such us "Troika", "spreads", "Fitch" and more more world that still i cannot understand what they mean. We learned every politician of Germany, France and America. Many families became poor overnight, they lost their houses, and they don't have nothing to eat. Every day you can see, mostly in the center of Athens, images that you can see only in the far far East. We couldn't imagine that a human can reach such a low level in a country which is supposed to have such a culture and history.
More and more young people are unemployed, with degrees and PHD diplomas. They can find a job as a delivery guy (etc), and thats hard to be achieved once again. No one was like we were in the past. Things change very fast without people understanding any of all these. I thing that's why they don't do a thing, they don't shout for losing their jobs, for talking their money because some rich guys stole them for the country.
Beside all these, we have to say the truth. The hole system was for the rubbish. Something, we had to do but they way the did to us was very cruel. They say to me that you are 17 years old. You have all for life in frond of you, you will study in the uni and then you will find a job. Things change. Now they don't even thing any of these. I am in the last grade of my school and in the June i will give my final exams to get into a good university. I have to go 7 hours at the morning in my school to do my subjects and then to leave school and to go to another private school where we do the subjects that we give very very well. Some of my classmates can't even afford this private school, which is called "Frodistirio". In English there isn't a translation so i will call it private school. I was speaking with a German friend and i wouldn't describe this world so private school is just ok. So, if i failed in this exams what i will do into this crized Greece? Where i can find the chances to learn something else?? We saw, people in our age to be very cool with it because the edu system is organized excellent. Here in Greece we have to be doctors or scientists.
But let's see the bright sight of life. Whatever is going to happend we will still have our family to support us. And the most important wish that we all hope for is to be healthy. Everything else will be fixed.
I hope that it wasn't very disappointed but i wanted to tell that Greek people aren't those that they want to steal, to earn money all the time and to care only for themselves. Also, i wanted to saw that also the teens are thinking and are effected of that Greece and our families passing. What is more, i would like to saw to people in my age what we are passing through this time of our life, because i know teens in other countries are having a different type of life.
